Casablanca Airport to Marrakech: The Transfer I’d Book — and the One I Wouldn’t

Compare the Casablanca airport to Marrakech train, grand taxi, bus, and private transfer options with real travel times, fares, and night-arrival advice.

8 min read

There is no direct train from Casablanca airport to Marrakech. You change at Casa Voyageurs, haul your bags across a platform, and reach Marrakech around three and a half hours after leaving the terminal, if the connection works.

If you want the short version: take the train only if you are traveling light, arriving in daylight, and on a tight budget. Everyone else should pre-book a private transfer before landing.

How to get from Casablanca airport to Marrakech: the options side by side

Marrakech is roughly 240 km from Mohammed V airport (CMN). Here is how the main options compare. Prices are approximate for 2026 and move with season and demand.

Is there a direct train from Casablanca airport to Marrakech?

No. The airport has its own station under Terminal 1, but its trains only run to Casablanca. You ride to Casa Voyageurs, then catch a separate train to Marrakech.

That change is where trips go wrong. A late flight, a slow passport queue, or a missed connection can cost you an hour or more on the platform.

How long is the train ride from Casablanca airport to Marrakech?

Count on about 3 hours 40 minutes in total. The airport leg takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes. The Casa Voyageurs to Marrakech leg takes around 2 hours 40, plus whatever you wait in between.

Casablanca airport train schedule: what to check

Frequency changes through the day, and I won’t print times that will be wrong by the next season. Check the live timetable on the ONCF site.

ONCF official booking site

Look at the last departures of the evening before you commit to the train. If your flight lands late, the connection may simply not exist.

Do I need to book the Casablanca to Marrakech train in advance?

For the short airport leg, you can usually buy at the station. For the Marrakech leg, I’d book ahead in busy periods and on weekends, so you aren’t stuck in a ticket queue after a long flight.

You can buy both tickets together, which saves one queue.

Casablanca to Marrakech train: 1st class vs 2nd class

Second class on the main leg runs around 100 to 140 MAD, while first class is around 140 to 200 MAD. That gap buys you a quieter seat and a better shot at space for your bags.

With a big suitcase, I’d pay for first class. Luggage racks fill up fast, and standing next to your bag for two and a half hours is no way to start a holiday.

How much is a grand taxi from Casablanca to Marrakech?

Plan on 400 to 700 MAD for the whole car, and expect the first quote to land well above that. There is no meter on this run, so the price is whatever you can agree before you get in.

I’m not against grand taxis. I just don’t love opening a negotiation after a flight, tired, in a language that may not be yours. Some drivers are straightforward and some quote the tourist price. You won’t know which one you got until you’ve already paid.

Is it safe to travel from Casablanca to Marrakech by taxi?

Most rides end without incident. The usual problems are price disputes at the end of the trip, older cars, and a long drive that nobody has checked on. The risk goes up if you’re alone, arriving at midnight, and haven’t agreed on a price.

Agree the fare and the drop-off point before you move. Better still, remove the question by pre-booking.

Is there Uber from Casablanca airport to Marrakech?

Don’t plan around it. Uber’s status in Morocco has changed several times, and reports conflict on where it currently works. Careem and inDrive exist, but they are built for rides within a city, and airport pickups are often restricted.

A 240 km intercity trip is a poor fit for an app that may show no cars when you land.

Casablanca to Marrakech bus (CTM / Supratours)

The buses are cheap and they work. They also don’t stop at the airport, so you have to get into the city first, which defeats the point of a simple transfer.

Where to catch the CTM bus from Casablanca to Marrakech?

CTM and Supratours run from their own city terminals, not from CMN. Check each company’s site for the current departure point before you go, since terminals and timetables change. With bags and no local SIM, it’s a lot of extra effort for a small saving.

For a simple arrival plan, consider a local eSIM for Morocco so you can check maps and bookings before you land.

How to get from Casablanca airport to Marrakech at night

This is where I’m most opinionated. If you land after dark, don’t count on the train. The connection may be gone, and a long taxi negotiation at midnight is the worst version of that option.

A pre-booked driver solves it. They wait in arrivals, you skip the haggling, and the fare is settled when you book. Check that your listing includes flight tracking, so a delayed plane doesn’t leave you without a pickup.

Private transfer Casablanca to Marrakech: why I’d book it

I’d book a private transfer for most travelers, and here is why. You walk out of arrivals and someone is already there. The price is fixed. Your luggage goes in the boot, and you’re in Marrakech in roughly 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic.

For couples, families, and anyone with two suitcases, the difference between this and the train is hard to overstate.

What to check before you book a CMN to Marrakech transfer

  • Meet-and-greet in arrivals, with the driver’s name sign
  • Flight tracking and free waiting time
  • Drop-off at your riad or hotel address, or at the nearest point cars can reach
  • A clear cancellation policy

Riads in the medina often can’t be reached by car. Ask your host where the driver should stop and who will meet you.

Safe travel Casablanca to Marrakech

A pre-booked driver with a confirmed reservation is the safest setup for this route. You know the price, the car, and the pickup point before you leave home. Nobody approaches you in the terminal, and nothing is left to settle at the curb.

How far is Marrakech from Casablanca airport?

About 240 km by road. Allow 2.5 to 3 hours in a car, and closer to 3 hours 40 minutes by train once you count the change at Casa Voyageurs.

My recommendation

Light bag, daytime flight, tight budget: take the train. Everyone else: book the private transfer, and read the booking conditions once before you pay.
